New figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that the H1N1 influenza virus is still disproportionately affecting young people. Out of 4,958 hospitalizations from the virus, 53 percent of the cases were in people 24 years and younger. These hospitalizations were reported by 27 states from Aug. 30 through Oct. 10. The rate was 39 percent among people ages 25 to 64 and 7 percent among those 65 and older. Out of 292 deaths reported by 28 states in the same period, 24 percent occurred in people 24 years and younger.
